Deputy Chief Tyler Pelke has dedicated over 30 years to municipal Fire & EMS public safety. An experienced leader in crisis management, he has been involved in some of Canada's most notable disaster responses as a member of Canada Task Force 2 National Disaster Response Team. Additionally, he is a public speaker who shares his personal journey of overcoming trauma to inspire others. His message of resilience and forgiveness resonates with audiences as he recounts his experiences of thriving as a professional firefighter and paramedic after surviving a violent physical and sexual assault as a teenager. He was the subject of the award winning Canadian Film Documentary “Altona”, released in 2023 which highlights the complexities of navigating trauma and forgiveness for those affected by traumatic events.
